Twilight
This was taken at a little pond in my friend's neighborhood, at around 7 pm. I really enjoy how the lighting and how it helps the rocks create neutral tones throughout the whole image. This is my favorite reflection I've taken. I like photos that deal with cooler colors, whereas those with warmer colors come across as too strong and drag my eyes along only to certain points, and not the whole image.
Dark Green
This was taken at the same pond, only at a different angle. The slightest turn I made, and how drastically the lighting seemed to change. It was probably just how the different colors of the trees reflected off of the water. My favorite part about this photo is how you can only infer what is above the water by looking at the reflection, as you can't actually see whats there. I like the little stick that's out of focus as well.
Smiles
This is my mom in the side mirror of her car. This was so staged, but I think it turned out very nice. My mom thinks its cool that you can both see her, and me, in the reflection of the little mirror in the corner. I would have liked to be able to crop out the car moving in the top left hand corner, but I also wanted there to be some space between the edge of the photo and the mirror in view.
5 AM
This picture was taken earlier this summer, at my friend's house at 5 in the morning. We had a sleepover that night, and I woke up at one point and saw her cat laying at the foot of the bed. All I could do was admire how the sunlight filtered into the white walls of the room, and cast beautiful shadows throughout the whole place. So, I pulled out my phone and took pictures of how the shadows danced across Snowflake's face. Still, this sight was prettier in person, and it's sad that my camera couldn't capture how the light affected the blueness of her eyes.
Blurred
I really like this picture because of the colors and the overall aesthetic. It's blurry, the shadows are so well faded into the wall, and there's no particular reason why this photo was taken. It really is just for the aesthetic, as I made no attempt to try to get the details of the hand, like lines or veins. It's almost creepy. I really like this photo.
100 Feet Above the Ground
I took this picture in a lighthouse on Lake Michigan, as it was the tallest one on the lake. The size of the lighthouse was absolutely beautiful, and this photo doesn't do it's size justice. It towered over the trees, so tall you could almost see across the lake. I like how on the left size of the shadow, you can see where I'm standing. This was my phone background for a very long time.
Chicago
This is the fake reflection photo I chose, and I think it is very convincing. The water wasn't calm at all that day on Lake Michigan, and I really like how I was able to manipulate this image so well. This was taken on my eighth grade trip to the city, and we were all on a cruise that just went around the bay. Everyone was outside watching the sun go down, and no one said anything, they just took pictures. I only wish I got some photos when the sun went down.
Auburn
This is my dog, Chester, who was begging for some of my dinner one night. He is the prettiest dog I have ever seen, and I take pictures of him all the time, but this happened to be my favorite. I was able to create the shadow beside him to be darker, but sadly the photo was cropped so I couldn't find a way to make the shadow more obviously fake. I think the best part about this picture is his eyes, and how the lighting makes them stand out easily.
