I have these figurines in my room. I don’t know where they came from, or why they’re there, but they stand in my windowsil and overlook my bed, always in the same place. I’ve never tried to get rid of them, I’ve never even questioned them. I feel connected to them, in a sense. It wasn’t hard finding that these objects were important for me to capture.
They come in a set, and there are many sets in exsistence. In my grandmother’s house, they’re found in my aunt’s old bedroom, sitting on the dresser. It’s a similar set up- there is an adult with the children as they are getting ready for bed. There is always one little girl who prays.
Growing up and admiring these figures have been a big part of my religious childhood, that continues until this day. My faith is engrained in me, makes up a part of who I am. I believe it is important to portray that part of you in your life, especially if your faith affects who you are as greatly as it does to me.
